Sydney:The election of Pakistan Australia Association (PAA) were held on Monday in Granville.Two panels contested the election in which the Community Panel won with massive margin. Ijaz Ahmed Khan elected as President while Shakib Amer General Secretary and Shafqat Abbas as Senior Vice President. More than 1,000 votes exercised their right of vote online.Although Community Panel won this election but Progressive Panel made its Presence felt and secured more than 300 votes out of 1250 votes. About 119 eligible voters did not cast their vote due to the glitch in the E-Voting system introduced by the PAA first time in the community elections. Approximately 500 members attended Granvile Centre and cast their votes.

Well-known community elder Zain Sharief presided over the election. Gulsharan Singh Morman Koh and Akram Al Magoush were among the independent observers. At 4:32 pm result were announced and the Community Panel was declared clear winner Zahid Minhas in his concession speech admired the election and said that time has come to promote youth to more leadership roles. He congratulaed Ejaz Khan and his team to set the democratic tradition of community elections.
