Dir: The trials of male and female athletes for the U-21 games organized by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sports Directorate in Dir Lower and Bajaur districts have come to an end. Jafar Shah, Amal Gul Afridi, Faisal, Sabz Ali, Babugal, Asadullah Safi, Timur Javed, Amna, Bushra, Fatima and Saira Khan of Dir Lower trials were held at various places in the capital, Temar Garh, and a large number of players from educational institutions and sports clubs participated in the event.

At the District Lower Dir level, trials were conducted in a transparent manner for the selection of teams consisting of talented players. Basketball and gymnastics trials were held at Government High School Mian Banda Dirk Ground while hockey, weightlifting, wrestling, Wushu, Taekwondo, Judo, Karate, while trials of seven sports including badminton, table volleyball, cricket, athletics, tug-of-war were held for women athletes.

On the occasion, DSO Bkhat Shahzeb and Assistant DSO Dir Lower Ibrar Ahmad said that due to these games we have the best talent. They said we will further polish the talent and prepare it for provincial and national level competitions. They said Like Naseem Shah and Imran Sr., in martial arts and other sports, the sports persons here have made a name for themselves and the country, which we cherish. With this, sports have been promoted in other districts including Lower Dir and grass root level talent has started to emerge. Because the talent shown here did not come from any other district, he addressed the players and said that if you continue to work hard and perform in the same way, insha’Allah, no one can stop them from winning national and international awards, they said.

Similarly, in Bajaur, the members of the selection committee supervising DS Afzal Akbar Khilji have completed the trials of players for the selection of men’s and women’s teams. The list of selected players during the trials in Bajaur and Lower Dir will be released today.
