HBK PPC Sports Gala entered into last stages, 200 journalists in run for top honor

PESHAWAR: The HBK Ramadan Sports Gala organized for journalists in Peshawar Press Club with the support of HBK is moving towards the final stage here on Tuesday.

The participation of more than 200 journalists in the sports gala made the event colorful. Zahir Shah Turo, the Provincial Minister for Food graced the occasion as chief guest.

On this occasion, Peshawar Press Club President Arshad Aziz Malik, former President M Riaz, General Secretary Irfan Musa Zai, Former President and Senior Sports Journalist Ijaz Ahmad, Sports Writers Association Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Secretary Shahid Afridi, and a large number of journalists were also present.

Addressing the journalists participating in the sports gala, Zahir Shah Turo said that organizing such healthy activities for the journalist community is commendable to give a sort of entertainment to their colleagues who have a lot of burden because of professional responsibilities.

He said that sports are very important for mental and physical development. Journalists should actively participate in sports activities. He also appreciated the members of the Peshawar Press Club who enthusiastically participated in six different sports events including Badminton, Table Tennis, Snooker, Tug of War, Ludo and Carrom Board.

He also lauded the management of the Peshawar Press Club and Chairman Sports Committee Abid Khan and his team for holding wonderful and entertaining activities for the journalists community.

Addressing the ceremony, President Peshawar Press Club Arshad Aziz Malik said on this occasion that we value the services of the government for journalists.

On the other hand, according to the results of the games played last night in the Ramadan Sports Gala, Ehtisham Bashir, Umar Qayyum, Muhammad Irshad, Arif Ikram, Musharraf Ali, Naeem Babar, Safir, Shah Faisal, Farhan Khalil, Nader Khawaja, Bilawal Arbab secured victories in the Ludo competitions.

Munir, Qadir Khan, Shehzada Fahad and Zulfiqar Ahmed recorded victories in carrom board event, similarly in the first match of the badminton event, Yasir Ali and Muhammad Irshad defeated Farhan Khalil and Hassan, Zafar Iqbal and Shehzada Fahad defeated Kabir Ali and Hasan and Faizan Hussain and Tariq Mehmood defeated Sajjad Haider and Arslan Tucker.

In the snooker event named after Sohail Qalandar, Shahzad Rasheed defeated Mudassar, Faizan Qazalbash defeated Adnan, Asif Raza defeated Hasnain and Kashan Awan defeated Kaleem Qureshi. Likewise, Bilal Afridi, Aftab Ahmed, Abdul Rahman, Zeeshan Liaquat and Ibrahim won the matches in the Table Tennis Championship named after the late renowned journalist Rahimullah Yousafzai.

It should be noted that in the Annual Ramadan Sports Gala, more than 200 male and female journalists are participating in six different games including table tennis, badminton, carrom board, snooker, tug of war and ludo.
