Peshawar. Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur has launched scholarships for students studying in higher educational institutions under the KP Education Foundation. He announced this while addressing the meeting of the Board of Directors of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Education Foundation. Through the scholarships, students of the province will be able to get free education in various higher educational institutions of the country. Under the program, scholarships will be given to 204 students on the basis of merit and inability. The cost of providing scholarships during the current financial year will be Rs 20 million.

The Chief Minister also announced to provide special scholarships for students belonging to backward districts of the province. The provincial government will provide additional seed money of Rs 100 million for this purpose. The seed money for the scholarships will increase from Rs 300 million to Rs 400 million. An additional seed money of Rs 100 million will be allocated only for scholarships for students from backward areas.

The promotion of education in the province is at the top of the priorities of the current provincial government. The provincial government is spending huge resources for this purpose. The seed money of the Chief Minister Education Endowment Fund has been increased from Rs 1.2 billion to Rs 2.4 billion. A separate fund of Rs 2 billion has been established for education cards in the province. Resources will be provided on a priority basis for the education of talented and deserving students. In our government, no child will be deprived of education due to inability to afford it.
